The most capable depth in Audition is 32-bit floating point. This uses a floating-point representation for samples, giving vast headroom and a much wider dynamic range than fixed-point depths. In practice, you can push levels, apply multiple effects, and mix without worrying about early clipping or quantization errors, because the exponent lets you represent both very small and very large values. You can even export to a 32-bit floating point WAV to preserve that extended dynamic range. Fixed-depth options like 24-, 16-, or 8-bit have a finite dynamic range and are more prone to clipping or audible quantization during processing.
